What Guestii sends to Square

Where does the money actually go?

Direct from Square into your linked bank account, the next business day. Guestii never holds funds in escrow, never takes a cut at the rail level, and can't freeze your payouts. The Square account is yours, registered in your venue's name.

What are the processing rates?

You get our negotiated nightlife rates, which are better than what you'd get signing up to Square direct off the street. Guestii adds zero markup on top. The rate you see in your Square Dashboard is the rate you pay.

Do I need new hardware?

If you already have a Square Reader, Square Terminal, or an iPhone that supports tap-to-pay, you're set. If not, we'll set you up with the right gear for your venue. Square's reception hardware is the best in the industry for fast, reliable card-present payments.

What if my bar doesn't run Square POS?

You still get a lot. As long as the bar takes Square card payments (even just a Reader plugged into a phone), we match the card to the guest profile and track total spend, visit frequency, and lifetime value. You only miss line-item data, the "John Smith · Victoria Bitter · $15" view, which unlocks when you upgrade to Square POS at the bar.

Will it work alongside our existing Square POS at the bar?

That's the best-case scenario, and the full data moat. When the bar runs Square POS, every line item on every tab stitches into the guest profile automatically. You see what they drank, when, how often, and which promoter or host brought them in. No staff tagging required.

What happens if Square is down on a Saturday night?

The Guestii reception app caches all guest data offline and keeps scanning. For payments, Square Terminals can fall back to offline mode for tap payments and sync when connectivity returns. We'll surface a status banner if Square's API is degraded.

How do refunds work?

One tap from the guest profile in Guestii. We trigger the refund through Square's API and update the guest record automatically. The funds reverse on the original card via Square's standard refund flow.

Can I disconnect Square anytime?

Yes. Disconnect from Guestii Settings or revoke access from your Square Dashboard. Your historical transaction records remain in Guestii for reporting; new payments simply stop until you reconnect.

Do you support Square Online or eCommerce?

Online ticket sales for Guestii events are processed through Square's Payments API on our hosted checkout. You don't need a Square Online subscription. If you sell merch separately via Square Online, that lives in your own Square Dashboard, untouched.
